Why did you choose your\nparticular specialty?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since my time as a medical student, I have always found the interaction between the mind and the body completely fascinating. Once I qualified as a doctor, I worked in physical health specialities for several years and was struck by how important psychological factors were in everyone\u2019s health, and this, in turn, led me to specialise in psychiatry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you enjoy most\nabout your job?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really enjoy working in a team who share the value of getting to know people and helping them understand more about their mind so that they can manage their difficulties with psychological therapy and\/or medication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What one thing do you wish\nevery member of the public knew?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI wish everyone knew the benefits of attending to their mental health\nand the positive impact this can have on their emotions and relationships.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What three traits define\nyou?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curious, empathetic, team-worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is your inspiration?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have always been inspired by the combined talents of my\ngrandmother, who was a GP, and my grandfather, who was a brain surgeon. They\nwere on separate sides of my family but capture the different areas of clinical\nexpertise that I always hope to offer patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What accomplishment in\nyour life are you most proud of?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building a car (with a lot of help from friends and family!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you could do another\njob for just one day, what would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would love to work in the development of renewable energy solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advances in medicine\nare you most excited about?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every small advance in our understanding of the brain brings us\ncloser to being able to understand how the mind functions, and I very much hope\nthis will advance our treatment of mental health difficulties in the coming\nyears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What (health) app would\nyou most recommend?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have recently launched a psychological treatment app called \u2018My Online Therapy\u2019 which (spoiler alert) I think is a really excellent way for people to access high-quality psychological therapy if they aren\u2019t easily able to access a clinic or prefer the convenience of having therapy through their mobile or laptop.
