Why did you choose your particular specialty?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t understand shoulders well, and had to read around the subject for a teaching presentation \u2013 and couldn\u2019t stop as I FOUND IT FASCINATING – a joint with so many unique features and peculiarities<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about your job?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being able to improve quality of life, often with fairly minor interventions and a small bit of understanding. Teaching is also important.<\/p>\n

What one thing do you wish every member of the public knew?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not all conditions and treatments are the same for orthopaedic conditions. Health planners also need to understand this.<\/p>\n

What three traits define you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enthusiasm, optimism and sincerity.<\/p>\n

Who is your inspiration?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Mandela and anyone who cycles the Tour De France.<\/p>\n

What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My children.<\/p>\n

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Minister of Health \u2013 it would be very different after a day.<\/p>\n

What advances in medicine are you most excited about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Future of genomics and genetic engineering.<\/p>\n

What (health) app would you most recommend?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m a dinosaur and only use WAZE.<\/p>\n
