About us

The London PEARS Centre, situated in London Bridge Hospital, is the only private hospital in the UK to perform the Personalised External Aortic Root Support (PEARS) procedure, and represents a major advance over conventional surgical approaches. The procedure can be carried out before patients reach the stage of dilation, given its less invasive and less radical approach. Using the PEARS technique, aortic support surgery can be performed earlier than traditional surgery, reducing the risk of aortic root rupture.

The operation time is shorter and is usually without cardiopulmonary bypass, thus reducing recovery times. There's no requirement for anticoagulant drugs and associated side effects, unlike traditional aortic root surgery. The root support drastically reduces the likelihood of further surgery and offers total repair of the aorta, thus allowing patients to return to normal activity and life.
