Mr Amer Khan was educated in London and qualified from Kings College Medical School in 1994. He subsequently undertook his orthopaedic training in the South-West and obtained the FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2007. He is dual fellowship trained having undertaken his sub-specialist fellowships in shoulder surgery at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and knee surgery at Guys and St Thomas's Hospital.
Mr Khan has also completed fellowships in Europe and America and was fortunate to work with some of the leading pioneers in both arthroscopic soft tissue knee and shoulder surgery. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2010 at Homerton University Hospital, the official Olympic Hospital for injured athletes. He holds the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedics, FRCS (Tr & Orth) and is on the specialist register of the General Medical Council.
He is committed to research and medical education. He regularly teaches on courses on shoulder and knee surgery including soft tissue sports injury and is routinely invited to lecture and teach internationally. In his orthopaedic practice, Mr Khan specialises in all problems of shoulder and knee including soft tissue sports injury and jointly runs the sports injury service.
He has particular expertise in modern arthroscopic (keyhole) techniques for multi-ligament soft tissue knee surgery and soft tissue shoulder surgery as well as total knee and total shoulder replacement.
