Based in Moorfields Eye Hospital, one of the world’s leading eye hospitals, as well as other private clinics in London, Prof. Gus Guzzard is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon (Glaucoma and Cataract) and the Chief Investigator of the LiGHT Trial of Laser Treatment for Glaucoma. His primary areas of expertise are medical, laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma, including small incision, and complex cataract surgery.
Prof. Gazzard completed his BChir (1993), MB (1994) and MA (1995) from the University of Cambridge. Two years of research into the diagnosis and management of glaucoma from the Institute of Ophthalmology, London and Singapore National Eye Centre led to him attaining an MD from UCL (University College London) in 2006.
Prof. Gazzard is an active global lecturer on glaucoma and myopia with more than a hundred published scientific articles, book chapters and videos. His research areas include diagnosis and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts, and epidemiology and prevention of myopia.
