I qualified from the Royal Free Hospital Medical School in 1991. After initial postgraduate medical training at the Royal Brompton, the Hammersmith Hospital and at the Whittington Hospitals, I entered specialist training in 1995. I undertook clinical training in gastroenterology, hepatology and endoscopy in London (at the Royal Free, Barts and The Royal London, and the Middlesex/UCL hospitals), and in Sydney. I was appointed as consultant at UCLH in 2002.
I am co-author of the Oxford Handbook of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
I completed a research MD fellowship in the study of hepatitis B, and have an ongoing research involvement in a number of areas, including autoimmune pancreatitis and advanced endoscopy. I have published 40 medical papers, 15 expert reviews/chapters.
In addition to consulting privately at The Physicians Clinic in Devonshire Street (off Harley Street), I also have a clinical involvement and admitting rights to The London Clinic, The Princess Grace Hospital, King Edward VII Hospital, The Wellington, and Highgate Hospital.
