Dr Ali Hamaad has been a Consultant Cardiologist at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust since December 2010. In addition to providing a general cardiology service, he also offers specialist treatment to patients with heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (particularly atrial fibrillation) and syncope (faints/blackouts). He runs a successful syncope/blackout clinic in the NHS where patients who have been suffering from these debilitating symptoms can seek advice, diagnosis and treatment. He also offers a cardiac screening package for patients who are concerned about their heart to assess for potentially high risk cardiac conditions.
After graduating from the University of Birmingham in 1999, Dr Hamaad trained in the West Midlands cardiology training programme and completed his MD thesis on the effect of heart rate in cardiovascular disease in 2009. He carried out further specialist training at the University Hospital North Staffordshire in cardiac implantable devices and cardiac rhythm management.
Dr Hamaad is actively involved in research into a number of cardiology conditions and treatments. He has published many scientific papers and book chapters in various subjects within the field of cardiology and presented his research at both national and international conferences.
