Mr Nicholas Strouthidis is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He graduated from the University of London and completed his post-graduation in ophthalmology from Moorfields Eye Hospital and at St Thomas' Hospital. After which he undertook a two-year clinical glaucoma fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
As a glaucoma specialist, Mr Nicholas Strouthidis is involved in the development and authorship of the content of the Glaucoma SIM microsite and associated materials. He gets support from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre based at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. He is the Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK), Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He has done two researches while he was doing MD and PhD and won his doctorate. Nicholas also holds honorary research appointments at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine in Sydney, Australia and at the Singapore Eye Research Institute.
Mr Nicholas Strouthidis was also a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Optic Nerve Head Research Laboratory, Devers Eye Institute, Portland, OR, USA. Currently Nicholas works as the Training Director for the Moorfields glaucoma service, supervising the largest glaucoma fellowship program in the world. He is the lead for clinical trials in glaucoma and pursuing his own hypothesis driven research and also holds a research appointment within the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. His clinical expertise includes cataracts, glaucoma and head imaging. He also has research interests in optic nerve head imaging, optic nerve biomechanics, measuring progression in glaucoma and the investigation of new surgical treatments for glaucoma.
