    Frequently asked questions

  • What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?

I am a functional urologist. Patients present me with symptoms related to urinary incontinence, bladder dysfunction, higher frequency of urination, urinary tract infections, among others. This is one end of the spectrum.

At the other end are patients with neurological diseases, having heavy incontinence, infections and kidney dysfunction.

Essentially, the presentation would be a combination of bladder problems, going to the toilet too often, urinary incontinence, or infections.

  • What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?

I'm one of the few specialists in the country who are able to offer a broad range of treatments from minimally-invasive techniques for bladder conditions, sacral neuromodulation, to major bladder surgery with bladder reconstruction.

In terms of incontinence which is related to surgery, especially prostate, I'm one of the few doctors in the country who can offer minimally-invasive surgery, with treatments ranging from bulking agents, male slings to artificial urinary sphincters. I also lead the efforts for major bladder reconstructions.

  • What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?

One of my areas of specialisation is neuro-urology. I'm one of the world's experts in this field. I sit on almost all the international boards that not only create guidelines, but also review papers in this specialty. I'm invited to speak on the subject both nationally and internationally.

On urinary incontinence, I'm recognised as one of the global experts. Again, I sit on most of the national and international boards that devise guidelines, review papers and look at the evidence for treatment, both current and future.
