Dr Robin Roberts is a private Consultant Cardiologist with more than 20 years of experience in managing patients with cardiac disease and complex medical problems. He is the lead cardiologist for The Private Cardiac Clinic at Alexander House Wimbledon and consults in Wimbledon, Harley Street and Surrey. He leads the only unit providing enhanced counterpulsation therapy ECP® in London and the South East of England. He has an interest in all aspects of adult cardiology including diagnostic coronary angiography, cardiac pacing, non-invasive assessment of heart disease using MRI and CT imaging, and the diagnosis and treatment of microvascular angina. His areas of special interest include the management of intractable angina, cardiac disease in women and the influence of psychological health in relation to cardiac disease and its prevention.
After completing his study of medicine at Westminster Medical School in 1982, Dr Roberts obtained broad training in general medicine before specialising in cardiology. He trained in cardiology at Guys’ Hospital, the London Chest Hospital and the National Heart and Lung Institute where he was a British Heart Foundation research fellow. At the National Heart and Lung Institute, he helped develop the model for rapid access chest pain clinics which are now standard throughout the NHS. In 1996 he was appointed as an NHS Consultant to Queen Mary’s Roehampton and The Royal Brompton Hospital, London. From 1999 he also had inpatient beds at Kingston Hospital. He was elected a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 2005 and was one of the founding members of the international EECP society (IEECPS). He is a member of the British Cardiac Society and the European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (EACPR). Since 2006 he has been in full-time independent private practice in Wimbledon and Harley Street.
