Spotlight on a specialist: Mr Nicholas Morris, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Mr Nicholas Morris, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

Why did you choose your particular speciality?

Obs and Gynae is a ‘good news’ speciality. It allows us to help women not only improve their health, but also the quality of their health.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Meeting new patients, planning new treatments, helping patients restore confidence in their bodies.

What one thing do you wish every member of the public knew?

It’s never too late to sort out a medical problem.

What three traits define you?

Bold, questioning and warm.

Who is your inspiration?

I have many. My father, who was a gynaecologist and believed passionately in women’s health. And my brother, who is still questioning how to improve health care.

What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

I was so proud and honoured when I qualified as a doctor. It was the right thing to do and still is.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

I would love to put on an opera!

What advances in medicine are you most excited about?

The new medical treatments for hypermobility and bladder dysfunction, and of course modern minimal excess surgery. But this all falls away when you assess how nano and crisp will change medicine and improve health.

What (health) app would you most recommend?

I do not have a specific one. Microsoft’s health locker is ingenious.

What charities do you admire/support?

Forward, the charity that supports victims of FGM. The Freddie Krivine Foundation, a coexistence tennis charity.
