About Mr Amar Mohee

GMC number: 6122202

Year qualified: 2005

Place of primary qualification: University of Manchester

Amar Mohee is a consultant urological surgeon at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), primarily based at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. He completed his medical training at the University of Manchester and later pursued research in urology at the University of Leeds, where he earned a doctorate in medicine for his thesis on 'Infection in urological practice: bacteraemia and infective endocarditis.'

After his research, Amar returned to Manchester to finish his urological training. He then moved to Paris for a fellowship in robotic surgery and uro-oncology at the renowned Henri Mondor Hospital, APHP, France. Since his appointment in 2015, Amar has been the lead in urological cancer at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Amar practises all aspects of urology but has a sub-speciality interest in urological cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicular cancers. He is highly experienced in performing procedures such as prostate MR scans and biopsies, PSA checks, cystoscopy, circumcision, hydrocele repair, epididymal cyst excision, transurethral resection of bladder cancer (TURBT), and transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).

In addition to his clinical work, Amar has presented extensively at national and international conferences and has numerous publications on various aspects of urological practice, including erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, urinary incontinence, and urinary infections.

Amar is fluent in both English and French. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. He is also a keen baker, often experimenting with new recipes, with his son being his most honest critic.
