Dr John Rogers is a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He also serves as the Medical Director at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance and is a Visiting Professor in Sport & Exercise Medicine at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Dr Rogers is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages and abilities overcome musculoskeletal and medical issues related to their physical activity, exercise, and sporting goals. His expertise extends to treating medical problems associated with physical activity and exercise, such as cardiac symptoms, breathing difficulties, fatigue, underperformance in sport, osteoporosis, vascular problems, concussion, mental health issues, and nutritional deficiencies. He is skilled in prescribing exercise for patients with various chronic diseases.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Rogers holds additional qualifications in musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging. He frequently performs ultrasound and X-ray guided soft tissue, spinal, and joint injections to manage pain and inflammation and to enhance rehabilitation. He collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team of medical and surgical consultants, physiotherapists, and sport science experts to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of medical and musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr Rogers has a strong interest in medical education and a clinical focus on endurance and running-based sports. His passion for sport and exercise began in childhood, and he competed as a middle-distance runner for Sale Harriers Manchester, winning Northern Ireland senior titles at 800m and 1500m. He continues to enjoy running, cycling, triathlon, and mountain climbing.

His previous roles include Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to British Triathlon, Institute Medical Officer to British Athletics, Consultant SEM Physician at the Defence Military Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court, CMO for Team GB at the Youth Olympic Games, Team Doctor for the British Paralympic Athletics Team, Sports Physician at Orreco, and GP Partner at Brooklands Medical Practice.

Dr Rogers treats a variety of conditions, including underperformance and fatigue in sport, cardiac symptoms, breathing difficulties, osteoporosis, vascular problems, concussion, mental health issues, and nutritional deficiencies.
