About Dr Jennifer Davies
GMC number: 2805843
Year qualified: 1983
Place of primary qualification: University of Bristol
Dr Jennifer Davies is a highly experienced general gynaecologist with a special interest in urogynaecology. She has been serving as a consultant since 2000 at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. With over two decades of experience in private practice, she now also offers her expertise at The Wilmslow Hospital.
Dr Davies is proficient in the non-surgical management of urinary symptoms and is trained in urodynamic (bladder) testing, which she performs personally. She conducts out-patient procedures for overactive bladder and urethral bulking for stress incontinence. Additionally, she offers a comprehensive range of surgical procedures to treat incontinence and prolapse, adhering to NICE guidelines and ensuring all procedures are discussed in a multidisciplinary team meeting.
Her expertise extends to general gynaecology, where she treats menstrual problems and menopause symptoms. She performs procedures like hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and hysterectomy but does not engage in colposcopy or specialist fertility treatments. Dr Davies also offers vaginal laser therapy for vaginal dryness and discomfort associated with menopause, using the Mona Lisa Touch machine.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr Davies has a significant role in medical education and has served on the Specialist Education Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She has led the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department in Wigan as Clinical Director and is actively involved in providing accessible patient information. She is the Vice Chair of the IT committee of the British Society of Urogynaecology and a committee member of the NICE guideline group on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. She also contributes to developing UK guidelines for the use of vaginal pessaries to treat prolapse with the United Kingdom Continence Society.
Dr Davies is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of several professional societies, including the British Society of Urogynaecology, the United Kingdom Continence Society, the International Urogynecological Association, and the British Menopause Society.
