Year qualified: 1985

Place of primary qualification: Bahauddin Zakariya University

Mr Naweed Shahid is a highly experienced consultant gynaecologist, accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He has a sub-specialist interest in urogynaecology, focusing on female prolapse and urinary incontinence, as well as expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and colposcopy. Mr Shahid also manages general gynaecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, fibroids, endometriosis, and menopausal issues.

Mr Shahid completed his fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and holds membership with the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London. He trained in the Northwest Deanery, gaining advanced skills in laparoscopic surgery, urogynaecology, and colposcopy. Since his appointment in 2009, he has been serving as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

Mr Shahid is dedicated to providing the highest standard of individualized care, emphasizing shared decision-making with his patients. He offers both conservative and surgical management options for female genital prolapse and urinary incontinence, without the use of mesh. His procedural expertise includes urodynamics, bladder assessments, and a variety of laparoscopic surgeries such as sacrohysteropexy and sacrocolpopexy.

In addition to his surgical skills, Mr Shahid is an accredited colposcopist, offering colposcopy and loop excision treatments for precancerous conditions of the cervix. He also performs outpatient hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, and urethral bulking injections. His comprehensive approach ensures that patients receive the most appropriate and effective treatments for their conditions.
