Professor Vivien Lees is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with an NHS practice based at Manchester University Foundation Hospitals Trust. She has special interests in hand and wrist surgery, as well as cosmetic surgery. Professor Lees has been a key figure in the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), serving as a Council member and representing BAAPS on the Healing Foundation, which promotes research into aesthetic surgery.

Professor Lees is highly skilled in cosmetic surgery and has contributed to research projects, including the characterization of stem cells in fat grafts. She also runs the North West aesthetic training rotation and serves as a trainer in aesthetic surgery for the North West plastic surgery programme. She holds RCSEng Certification in Cosmetic Surgery and is the College lead for the programme nationally.

In addition to her cosmetic surgery expertise, Professor Lees is renowned for her work in hand, wrist, and upper limb surgery. She completed a prestigious fellowship at the Kleinert Institute in Louisville, USA. She has held significant roles in the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), including Chair of Education & Training and Council Member. She has also been instrumental in developing the Postgraduate Diploma and Master in Hand Surgery.

Professor Lees collaborates closely with breast surgery colleagues to provide a multidisciplinary service for developmental breast disorders, including asymmetry, tubular breasts, and Poland's syndrome. She is an elected RCSEng Council Member and has previously chaired the Specialist Advisory Committee in Plastic Surgery, overseeing plastic surgery training in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Her commitment to patient safety is evident through her involvement in the SAFE OR project globally and in the UK. Professor Lees graduated from Oxford and Cambridge, obtaining her research MD from Cambridge and winning the Walter Langdon Brown prize. She was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Manchester University Foundation Hospitals Trust in 1997.
