  • Why did you decide to become a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon ?

    I chose thoracic surgery because it was a rapidly evolving field when I started training. Keyhole surgery was still developing, and I found it exciting to be involved in a specialty at the forefront of innovation. I perform most of my procedures through minimally invasive techniques—using either endoscopic or robotic assistance. Practising privately allows me to offer patients access to advanced diagnostics and treatments that might not be readily available in the NHS, including shorter wait times and broader procedural options.

  • What are the common symptoms that your patients tend to present with?

    Common symptoms include cough, chest pain, and coughing up blood. These symptoms should prompt immediate medical attention. While most of these don't require surgery, some cases do. For instance, patients with chest wall deformities often come to me for surgical correction when symptoms affect daily life or activity levels.

  • What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?

    I offer both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Diagnostics include bronchoscopy for visualisation or biopsy, and cervical mediastinoscopy for lymph node sampling. Therapeutically, I perform keyhole surgery—either via VATS or robotic methods—for lung and chest tumours. I also treat thoracic endometriosis, chest wall deformities like pectus excavatum, and offer surgical solutions for excessive sweating and blushing.
