Dr Ajoy Bardhan is a consultant dermatologist practising at the Harborne Hospital in Edgbaston, Birmingham. He underwent comprehensive training in London, Cambridge, and the West Midlands before accepting an NHS consultant appointment at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). UHB houses one of the largest and busiest specialist dermatology departments in the country. Dr Bardhan is known for his relaxed and affable approach in addressing skin problems, irrespective of their severity.

Dr Ajoy Bardhan pursued his medical degree at Imperial College London, with an intercalation in haematological sciences. Following this, he underwent postgraduate physicianly training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, and subsequently specialised in dermatology in the West Midlands. His journey included a fellowship in the nationally commissioned ultra-specialised Epidermolysis Bullosa service at UHB, where he later became a consultant in 2019. Dr Bardhan's clinics cover a broad spectrum, offering specialised assessment of skin lesions and cutaneous surgery, as well as addressing severe inflammatory skin disease.

Dr Bardhan is a clinical lecturer within the Dermatology Research Group at the University of Birmingham, with a focus on rare inherited skin fragility syndromes, specifically Epidermolysis Bullosa. His academic pursuits aim to bridge fundamental scientific exploration with personalised patient-centred care, supported by cutting-edge evidence. He actively contributes to local, regional, national, and international dermatological discourse through lectures and presentations, and holds formal roles in both undergraduate and postgraduate dermatology education.

In addition to his clinical and research roles, Dr Bardhan serves as the clinical director for the largest dermatology department in the Midlands at Solihull Hospital. He has been a member of the regional genomic rare disease advisory board, serves as the current secretary for the Midland Dermatology Society, and also holds leadership positions on several national committees.
