Prof Akash Deep is a distinguished Paediatric Intensivist and the Director of Paediatric Intensive Care at King's College Hospital. He completed his medical training at prestigious institutions in Mumbai and Chandigarh, followed by sub-specialization in Paediatric Intensive Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital, St Mary's Hospital, and Royal Brompton Hospital in London. Prof Deep has been serving in his current role since 2009.

Prof Deep is renowned for his expertise in paediatric sepsis and acute paediatric conditions. He has authored the internationally acclaimed guidelines on sepsis in children, known as the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, and has played a pivotal role in developing the National Paediatric Sepsis Toolkits. His work in sepsis awareness extends to training parents, school nurses, and GPs to spot early signs of sepsis.

In addition to his clinical roles, Prof Deep is actively involved in clinical research and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. He frequently presents his research and lectures both in the UK and internationally. His areas of expertise include paediatric intensive care, respiratory disorders, acute liver failure, and acute kidney injury. He is also adept at managing patients with complex needs requiring multi-specialty input.

Prof Deep serves as the medical advisor to the UK Sepsis Trust Executive Committee and has represented paediatric intensive care in standardising care pathways for acutely unwell children in emergency departments. He is the chair of Scientific Affairs for the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC), where he leads groups focused on kidney and liver failure.
