Mr Alak Pal qualified from Calcutta Medical College, India in 1986, and trained at Eden Hospital, Medical College Hospitals. In the three years of training towards postgraduate degree of MD in 1991 he gained valuable and wide experience in general Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

He started working in the UK from 1992 and obtained MRCOG in 1994. He has since worked in many prestigious teaching hospitals including James Cook Teaching Hospital, Middlesbrough and Leicester Royal Infirmary, expanding his experience in different settings and firmly consolidating a broad base in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Mr has extensive experience in management of gynaecological problems, such as pelvic pain, urinary and menstrual disorders. He is an accredited colposcopist and the lead for colposcopy and gynaecology cancer in Ealing Hospital, running regular colposcopy and rapid access clinics. He is experienced in minimal access surgery, including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for heavy periods (both medical and surgical management like ablation and resection of endometrium), fibroids (hysteroscopic resection, open myomectomy and hysterectomy), endometriosis (diagnosis, medical and surgical management including Helica ablation), ovarian cysts (laparoscopic cystectomy for benign cysts).

Accredited for transvaginal scanning, he consults and scans in a one-stop setting in the Rapid Access Clinic for postmenopausal bleeding and suspected gynaecological malignancies. He is experienced in the investigation and management of stress and urge incontinence, and also in the surgical management of uterovaginal prolapsed.
