Mr Alex Leo is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with extensive experience in managing complex benign colorectal conditions and pelvic floor disorders. He specialises in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, as well as abdominal wall hernia reconstruction.
Mr Leo obtained his primary medical degree from the University of Perugia, Italy, before undertaking advanced training in General and Colorectal Surgery. He earned his Medical Doctorate cum laude in General Surgery from the University of Udine, along with a diploma in General Surgery.
He subsequently moved to the UK, where he worked as a specialist registrar at St Mark's Hospital. During this period, he completed a fellowship in Neuromodulation and Physiology at St Mark's Hospital and a further fellowship in pelvic floor conditions at The Royal London Hospital.
In 2020, he was appointed as a substantive consultant, having earned a Medical Doctorate from Imperial College London for his research on the diagnosis and treatment of faecal incontinence.
Mr Leo has published numerous peer-reviewed research papers on colorectal and pelvic floor disorders and has presented his work at national and international conferences.
