Mr Ali Bajwa is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and hip surgery. He trained in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Deanery, where he completed his basic surgical and specialist training in orthopaedic and trauma surgery. He holds a master's degree in orthopaedics and has Sports Medicine qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr Bajwa has received numerous awards for his work and has undertaken two prestigious fellowships at world-renowned centres of excellence. One fellowship was with Mr Richard Villar in London, UK, where he mastered pioneering techniques in hip preservation surgery. The other was at the Orthopaedic Centre in Adelaide, Australia, a distinguished centre for knee and hip arthroscopy treatment, sports injury, and joint replacement.
Before joining the Richard Villar Practice, a full-time independent practice, Mr Bajwa served as a Consultant at the James Cook University Hospital, Teesside. He has been with the Richard Villar Practice since his appointment.
Mr Bajwa treats patients with a wide range of hip and knee conditions. He performs major knee ligament reconstructions, including anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, hip arthroscopy, femoroacetabular impingement, joint preservation, and cartilage regeneration. He also specialises in modern joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee for patients with advanced arthritis, offering both total and partial joint replacements, including computer navigation and shape-matched surgery. His particular interests include sports injuries and tendon degeneration and tears.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Bajwa has a keen interest in clinical research. He has published extensively in his field of expertise and has received numerous awards for his academic contributions.
