Dr Amal Muthumala is a highly qualified Consultant Cardiologist with extensive expertise in various areas of cardiology. He specialises in heart failure, device implantation, chest pain, palpitation, breathlessness, syncope, hypertension, valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, and cardiac risk assessment.

Dr Muthumala received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge in 2001. He initially worked in London before undergoing training in general cardiology at the Oxford deanery. He further honed his skills through specialist fellowships in Complex Devices and Advanced Heart Failure in Calgary, Canada, and at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. In 2009, he earned his MD (Res) in Cardiovascular Genetics from University College London and became a certified cardiac device specialist in 2012. By 2014, he was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in cardiology.

Throughout his career, Dr Muthumala has held several leadership roles. He previously served as the Clinical Lead for Heart Failure at North Middlesex Hospital. Currently, he is the Clinical Lead for Devices at Barts Heart Centre. He is also an active member of the British Society of Heart Failure and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
