Dr Ameet Dhar is a leading Consultant Hepatologist based at the Liver and Anti-viral Unit at St Mary's Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London, and in the Department of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital, London. He is also Clinical Lead for Hepatology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and current Lead for the Hepatology Clinical Reference Group for the North West London Integrated Care System (NHS). He is Lead for cirrhosis and portal hypertension, pre- and post-transplant medical care at Imperial College NHS Trust.

Dr Dhar qualified in medicine from Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospital in London and completed his training in general internal medicine and gastroenterology in North West London. He undertook sub-speciality training in hepatology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Free Hospital, during which he obtained his PhD studying the mechanisms of liver fibrosis, including in Hepatitis C pre- and post-transplantation, and the role of coagulation proteins.

Dr Dhar treats patients with all general liver conditions, including alcohol-related liver disease, fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, and autoimmune disorders of the liver. He provides comprehensive care for patients with cirrhosis and its complications, including portal hypertension and ascites. His private practice is based at the Wellington Hospital, Lindo Wing, St Marys Hospital, and One Welbeck.

Dr Dhar is actively involved in clinical research and has a keen interest in the care of patients with cirrhosis and the prevention of liver fibrosis. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at national and international conferences. Passionate about teaching, he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and is responsible for the Hepatology section of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM).
