Dr Andrew Parker is a Consultant Psychiatrist in independent practice with 15 years of experience working with mental health problems. As a medical psychiatrist, he is able to offer expert advice on psychopharmacology and is a member of the British Association for Psychopharmacology. On the other hand he tries to encourage patients to use non-medication strategies as much as possible, as this is often better in the long-term, especially for mild-moderate conditions. He believes that psychiatry, as a profession, must have humility for the simple reason that the most significant aspects of the human mind (consciousness, free will, and value) remain a deep mystery. They cannot be fully explained by the physical makeup of the brain.

Dr Parker trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry in London, before being appointed to a substantive Consultant position at St George’s, London. In addition to his formal training, he considers his life experience and interests of almost equal importance in shaping his clinical approach.
