    About Mr Angus Lewis

    GMC number: 4118806

    Year qualified: 1994

Place of primary qualification: University of London

Mr Lewis is a highly experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in pelvic and acetabular reconstruction. He is currently based at Charing Cross Hospital, which is part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, the UK's first Academic Health Science Centre.

Mr Lewis graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London, in 1994, following an honours degree from Bristol Polytechnic. He completed his basic surgical training at King’s College Hospital before embarking on his orthopaedic training at the Academic Unit of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He completed his specialist registrar training in 2006, which included 12 months of specialist training in pelvic and acetabular reconstruction surgery at St George’s Hospital.

In 2006, Mr Lewis was appointed as a full-time substantive consultant with a special interest in pelvic and acetabular reconstruction at Charing Cross Hospital. He has since established a regional tertiary referral practice, receiving over 70 pelvic referrals and complex revision hip reconstruction cases annually from across North West London.

Mr Lewis has a keen elective interest in hip arthroplasty reconstruction, both primary and revision. His involvement with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has allowed him to engage in academic orthopaedic research. He is currently involved in pioneering work on computer-assisted navigation for the reduction and stabilisation of pelvic and acetabular fractures, as well as detailed mapping of the pelvis. This research aims to enhance the understanding of the pelvis, which he believes has some of the most complex biomechanical properties of any bone in the body.

Since 2015, Mr Lewis has been a member of the London Hip Unit, which is dedicated to providing high-quality, accurate lower limb orthopaedic reconstruction.
