These include chronic head and neck pains, such as whiplash injuries, spine and musculoskeletal pain, rotator cuff injuries, and leg pain from sciatica. He also treats abdominal pain, pelvic and abdominal visceral pain, nerve pain, phantom pain, trigeminal neuralgia, pain after shingles, and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). From his research experience, Dr Gubbay has developed a particular interest in cancer pain and the rationalisation of opioids for non-malignant pain.

Through his passion for education, Dr Gubbay serves as the clinical supervisor for anaesthetic trainees undertaking their pain modules. He is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
