Professor Anthony Wierzbicki is a distinguished consultant in chemical pathology and the director of the lipid and cardiovascular prevention unit at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals. He trained at the University of Cambridge, attended clinical school in Oxford, and qualified in 1986. He was appointed to his current roles in 1994.

Professor Wierzbicki is renowned for his extensive work in the field of atherosclerosis, with over 400 publications to his name. His expertise has earned him fellowships with the National Association of Clinical Biochemistry (USA) and the American Heart Association, specifically in the arteriosclerosis and blood pressure sections. He has also served as a trustee of HEART-UK, the UK cholesterol charity, and is an active member of numerous national and international medical societies.

In addition to his clinical and research roles, Professor Wierzbicki has contributed significantly to UK government panels on cardiovascular medicine, including for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence.

His areas of expertise include metabolic medicine, chemical pathology, cardiovascular medicine, hyperlipidaemia, obesity, and general medicine. Professor Wierzbicki is dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of these conditions through both his clinical practice and research efforts.
