Dr Anupam Bhattacharjee is a Consultant Neurologist with NHS practices at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square) and Royal Free Hospital London. He also manages a large general neurology practice at Lister Hospital in Hertfordshire. Dr Bhattacharjee read medicine at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals (Kings College) and achieved an intercalated 1st Class BSc in Physiology. He completed an MB/PhD programme funded by the Migraine Trust and finished his medical finals with distinction.
Dr Bhattacharjee trained in prestigious medical post-graduate posts at St. Thomas’, Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, National (Queen Square), and Kings College Hospitals. He undertook Specialist Registrar training in Neurology at the Royal Free Hospital and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square), where he currently holds consultant posts.
Dr Bhattacharjee sees patients with common neurological diseases such as headaches, blackouts, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. He runs specialist clinics in peripheral nerve and neuromuscular disease, neuroimmunology, and neuropathic pain. His expertise in neuroimmunology allows him to treat patients with rheumatological, renal, dermatological, and infectious diseases with neurological involvement. He also collaborates with a Consultant Haematologist to see patients with haematological diseases affecting the nervous system.
Dr Bhattacharjee is a member of the Royal Free IVIg committee Subregional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel and developed a large plasma exchange service with the haematology department. He is frequently invited to present his work at national and international conferences and serves in an advisory capacity to pharmaceutical companies involved in treating neuro-immunological diseases.
