Dr Ari Manuel is a general respiratory consultant based in Liverpool, specialising in sleep disorders and ventilation. He holds a senior clinical lecturer position at the University of Liverpool and is also an academic with the University of Sheffield.

Dr Manuel graduated from Imperial College with a BSc in Biochemistry and a degree in Medicine. He completed his medical training in London and Oxford, and further pursued a DPhil in Sleep Medicine at Oriel College, Oxford. Additionally, he holds a diploma in higher education from the University of Oxford.

He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and serves as the vice president of the International Council of the American Association of Sleep Medicine (AASM) from 2021 to 2024. Dr Manuel is also a council member for the British Sleep Society (BSS) and the Royal Society of Medicine, with his term running from 2019 to 2027.

In 2020, Dr Manuel co-authored one of the most referenced and viewed medical research papers in the Lancet journal, focusing on the long-term complications of COVID-19 infection.

Dr Manuel's areas of expertise include the treatment of various conditions such as COVID-19 complications, insomnia, unrefreshed sleep, fatigue and tiredness, restless legs, obstructive sleep apnoea, weight-related respiratory complications, asthma, COPD, infections, breathlessness, MAST cell syndrome, hypermobility syndromes, chronic fatigue, and sleep disorders related to ADHD and autism.

Dr Manuel has been serving in his current roles since his appointment and continues to contribute significantly to the field of respiratory medicine and sleep disorders.
