    Professor Arun Ranaganthan is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with extensive experience in spinal surgery. He specialises in the treatment of back pain, neck pain, disc replacement, lumbar disc disease, cervical disc disease, scoliosis, spine trauma, and spine tumours.

    After earning his primary medical degree, Professor Ranaganthan pursued an advanced spine fellowship at the Neurosciences Centre and Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. There, he gained significant expertise in orthopaedics and spinal neurosurgery under the guidance of renowned surgeons Dr Stephen Lewis and Professor Fehlings. He was later awarded a doctorate by the University of Nottingham for his research in spinal surgery at the Sir Peter Mansfield Centre.

    Following additional spinal fellowships in Leeds and London, Professor Ranaganthan was appointed as a consultant at the age of 35. He has since been honoured as an honorary professor of orthopaedic and spine surgery at Bhopal University in India and Bach Mai University Hospital in Vietnam. Notably, he is the youngest recipient of the ISSLS prize for the best international spinal research, which he received in 2004 and 2009. He has also been awarded the Spine Society of Australia award.
