Mr Ashwin Sridhar: Consultant Urologist Specialising in Robotic Surgery and Surgical Technology

Mr Ashwin Sridhar is a highly experienced consultant urologist with a specialist focus on robotic surgery and surgical technology. He is currently practising at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) within the NHS, where he concentrates on bladder and prostate cancer, as well as reconstructive surgery. His primary interest lies in minimally invasive surgery, image-guided surgery in urology, and the digitisation of surgery and surgical education.

Mr Sridhar's aim is to provide world-class cancer care for patients with pelvic urological cancers and those requiring robotic pelvic urological reconstructive surgery. He is also dedicated to establishing a multispecialty robotic training environment for continuous professional development.

Having completed his urology training with a specialist focus in uro-oncology and robotic surgery, Mr Sridhar furthered his expertise by obtaining an MSc in Surgical Technology with distinction from Imperial College London. His thesis on augmented reality image guidance for robotic prostatectomy was successfully defended. Additionally, he holds a postgraduate diploma in clinical education, aimed at developing a novel interactive environment that incorporates established educational theories for the development of surgical skills.

Mr Sridhar has completed the EAU/ERUS curriculum and has performed over 1000 independent robotic procedures in pelvic cancer. He is a Proctor with Intuitive Surgical, training surgeons across the UK and Europe in robotic cystectomy and intracorporeal reconstruction, robotic prostatectomy (including the Retzius-sparing technique), robotic salvage prostatectomy, and robotic reconstructive surgery for benign procedures.

With extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of prostate and bladder cancer, Mr Sridhar is committed to optimising patient outcomes post-treatment. His dedication to advancing surgical techniques and education makes him a leading figure in the field of urology.
