Professor Asif Raza is a distinguished Consultant Urological Surgeon with a wealth of experience in the field of urology. He holds the position of Honorary Associate Professor at the Rila Institute of Health Sciences and Plymouth University, and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College Medical School, London. Additionally, he serves as the programme lead for Urology at the Rila Institute and is the Regional Advisor for the London region for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Professor Raza graduated from Glasgow University Medical School in 1991 and completed his registrar programme in urology in Scotland. During his training, he honed his skills at the world-renowned Scottish Lithotriptor (Stone) Centre in Edinburgh.
Specialising in minimal access (keyhole) surgery and endourology, Professor Raza is an expert in keyhole surgery for kidney stones using laser technology. He treats a variety of benign prostate conditions, including prostate surgery, and offers comprehensive care for general urological problems in both men and women. His areas of expertise include urinary infections, haematuria (blood in the urine), penile and testicular issues, as well as bladder problems.
Professor Raza is proficient in a range of advanced procedures and treatments, including:
- Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (keyhole removal of kidney stones)
- ESWL (shockwave treatment for kidney stones)
- TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate)
- Memokath stents for the prostate and ureter
