Dr Azad Ghuran is a consultant cardiologist at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, serving at both Lister Hospital in Stevenage and Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1993 and completed his postgraduate training in general medicine and cardiology at prestigious hospitals in London, including St. George’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, and the Sussex Cardiac Centre in Brighton. He also undertook an interventional fellowship at the OLVG hospital in Amsterdam.

Dr Ghuran is highly skilled in performing multivessel and complex coronary artery interventions, including angioplasty and stent implantation via both radial and femoral approaches. His expertise extends to coronary microvascular disease, coronary artery spasm, pacemakers, valvular heart disease, syncope, hypertension, heart failure, palpitations, arrhythmia management, cardiovascular risk screening, sports cardiology, and inherited cardiac conditions.

In 2006, Dr Ghuran earned his MD with a thesis on electrocardiographic monitoring of myocardial ischaemia. He further enhanced his qualifications with a Post Graduate Certificate in Sports Cardiology and Inherited Cardiac Conditions from St. George’s University of London in 2023. He has published extensively in the field of cardiology, including a book, several book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed articles. He is also a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).

Dr Ghuran is dedicated to medical education, training a wide range of healthcare professionals.
