Dr Chelvi Kukendrarajah is a Consultant Paediatrician and Lead Clinician for the Central North West London Foundation Trust Community Paediatric Services in Hillingdon. She has an impressive record of training and extensive clinical experience. After graduating, she specialised in Paediatrics and became a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics. In 2003, she was honoured as a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics.
Dr Kukendrarajah has worked at the National Centre for Social Communication Disorder, Harper House Children's Service in Radlett, and various teaching hospitals including St Mary's Paddington and The Royal Free Hospital, London. She holds a Master's degree from University College London (UCL) and is proficient in using specialist instruments like the 3Di, DISCO, ADOS, and Bayley III.
Her areas of expertise include the diagnosis and management of social communication disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia), Learning Difficulties, and sleep and feeding disorders. She collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Physiotherapists, and Occupational Therapists, and works closely with Education and Social Services.
Dr Kukendrarajah's approach is child and family-centred, empowering families to make informed decisions. She provides evidence-based developmental diagnoses, aiding parents in choosing interventions and securing support for their children. She also offers private joint assessments with specialist speech and language therapists for Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated conditions.
In her NHS role, she has developed a comprehensive service for Autism Spectrum Disorder, in line with NICE guidelines. She continuously updates her skills to maintain high-quality services and has received several 'Clinical Excellence Awards' for her dedication.
