Prof. Christoph A. Nienaber is a renowned consultant cardiologist and interventional cardiovascular specialist with extensive experience in advanced cardiovascular care. He began his academic career at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and held a temporary post at the UCLA School of Medicine. He later chaired internal medicine and cardiology at Universitätsmedizin Rostock until May 2015, when he joined the Royal Brompton Hospital.
As a consultant cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, Prof. Nienaber focuses his research and clinical activities on diagnosing and non-surgically treating acute and chronic aortic pathologies, including aneurysms and aortic dissection. He sees patients with aortic conditions and helps them decide on their best treatment options.
Prof. Nienaber is the co-founder of the International Registry of Aortic Dissection (IRAD), a global network for acute aortic conditions. He has pioneered new endovascular techniques for treating aortic dissection and has initiated and participated in guideline-changing trials.
