About Mr Christopher Hemmerdinger
Mr Chris Hemmerdinger is a consultant ophthalmologist with over 24 years of experience, practising at HCA UK at The Wilmslow Hospital and serving as the glaucoma lead and consultant at Macclesfield District General Hospital. He commenced his medical training at Manchester University, followed by ophthalmology specialisation at St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool. He was appointed as a consultant at Warrington and Halton Hospitals in 2011, where he also held the position of clinical lead for several years, before assuming his current role in 2016.
He specialises in cataract surgery—including multifocal and toric lenses—glaucoma management and surgery, and corneal disorders. His surgical repertoire includes all types of glaucoma procedures such as non-penetrating and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), trabeculectomy, tube surgery, laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), as well as routine and complex cataract operations. He undertakes over 800 such procedures annually and is also adept at minor eyelid treatments, urgent eye care, ocular coherence tomography (OCT), and general ophthalmology.
