Dr Claire Higham is an esteemed endocrine consultant, appointed to The Christie in 2012. Dr Higham completed her physiology degree and DPhil at Merton College, Oxford, and subsequently undertook her medical training at Royal Free/University College London. She further honed her skills through junior doctor training in London and higher specialist training in Manchester, which included a three-year clinical research fellowship at The Christie.
Dr Higham specialises in endocrinology, with particular expertise in pituitary disease, metabolic bone disease, and the late effects of cancer treatment. She is also highly knowledgeable in managing thyroid eye disease, diabetes, and Turner syndrome.
At The Christie, Dr Higham plays a pivotal role in the DXA bone mineral density scanning service and the in-patient diabetes service. Her dedication to patient care and her extensive research background make her a leading figure in her field.
