About Mr David Houlihan-Burne

A highly-skilled orthopaedic surgeon, Mr David Houlihan-Burne was listed in Tatler magazine's Doctors Guide in 2013. His special interests are cartilage regeneration, ligament reconstruction, arthritis in the young patient and kneecap (patellofemoral) problems.
In his stint as a clinical advisor to the Department of Health, he established new rehabilitation regimes for knee surgery patients. He pioneered the Rapid Recovery Programme, an innovative patient-centred approach to knee replacement surgery. He practises in a number of top medical establishments in London including the Fortius Clinic and the 3 Rivers Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic.
After completing his medical education (BSc, MBBS) from St Mary's Hospital Medical School in 1995, Mr Houlihan-Burne undertook specialist fellowship training in sports knee surgery at the Jonathan Webb Clinic, Bristol, and received his FRCS. After being appointed consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon at the Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital in 2005, he built up a lower limb surgery practice, providing care for many local amateur and semi-professional sports players.
He regularly teaches and lectures at a number of national and international conferences on field-related matters. He is a member of the British Medical Association, the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (Executive Member 2011-2013) and the British Association for Sports and Exercise Medicine.

The most common symptoms are injuries, knee pain and knee swelling.
What are the treatments that you're able to offer your patients?
I offer everything to do with knee surgery. There's very little that I don't offer. Most common ones would be knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, cartilage regenerative surgery, among others.
What are your areas of sub-specialist interest?
My main interest is knee surgery. My niches are robotic knee replacement surgery and cartilage regenerative surgery.
