Miss Desiree Kolomainen is a renowned and respected Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with sub-speciality training in gynaecological oncology. She practices at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Miss Kolomainen specialises in the early detection and treatment of gynaecological cancers, including cervical, ovarian, vaginal, vulval, and endometrial cancer.

Miss Kolomainen treats women affected by a variety of conditions, including ovarian cysts, abnormal smears requiring colposcopy or treatment, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, menopause, vulval disease, and well-woman health checks. She is qualified to perform both open and laparoscopic surgery and also performs colposcopy for patients with abnormal smears, offering treatment under local anaesthesia where appropriate.

Miss Kolomainen graduated from King's College School of Medicine, London. After completing her training in obstetrics and gynaecology in North East Thames, she undertook a fellowship at St George's Hospital, London, and completed a three-year subspecialty training in gynaecological cancer at The Royal Marsden Hospital. She holds RCOG dual accreditation as an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (CCT 2006) and as a Gynaecological Oncologist (CCT 2011). Additionally, she has RCOG certification in colposcopy, laparoscopy, and gynaecological ultrasound.

Miss Kolomainen has presented at both national and international meetings on topics such as the early stage of ovarian cancer, the surgical management of bowel obstruction in ovarian cancer, and surgery for recurrent ovarian cancer. She also holds the position of Chair of the South East London Cancer Alliance.
