Dr Dheeraj Karamchandani is a consultant ENT surgeon specialising in rhinology, skull base surgery and facial plastics. He holds a substantive consultant appointment at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, where he leads regional clinics in olfactory disorders and complex ENT cases. He also practises privately at The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham.


His areas of expertise include nasal obstruction, septal perforations, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, loss of smell, hearing loss, tinnitus, balance disorders, blocked ears, snoring, sleep apnoea, tonsillitis, hoarseness and investigation of neck lumps.

He performs a comprehensive range of procedures such as endoscopic anterior skull base surgery, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), balloon sinuplasty, septorhinoplasty, grommet insertion, adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, ClariFix cryotherapy, otoplasty, ear microsuction, lymph node biopsy, vocal fold laryngoscopy, ear reconstruction, minor skin surgery and cyst removal.


He treats conditions including nasal polyps, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, deviated septum, epistaxis, eardrum perforations, otitis media and externa, Meniere’s disease, vestibular neuritis, head and neck tumours, thyroid disease, voice disorders, TMJ problems and paediatric ENT issues.

In addition to his clinical work, he chairs SFO UK under ENT UK, serves as a Royal College of Surgeons tutor and is treasurer for YCOHNS. He contributes to national and international ENT courses, including an FRCS viva course in the West Midlands. His interests include integrating 3D printing and augmented reality into surgical practice and advancing ENT education.

He is known for a compassionate, meticulous approach and tailoring treatment plans to individual patient needs. He speaks English, Hindi and Punjabi, and was appointed as NHS consultant at UHCW in approximately 2015 following fellowship training. His interests outside work include spending time with family, exploring the countryside, cooking and travelling.
