Dr Jayaseelan specialises in general and acute neurology, with a particular focus on neuromuscular disorders, including muscle channelopathies and inherited muscle diseases. She is highly experienced in managing conditions such as migraine, epilepsy, peripheral neuropathy, myopathy, motor neurone disease and disorders causing weakness, numbness and muscle dysfunction.
She also holds an honorary consultant role at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she treats paediatric and transition patients, and co-leads nationally commissioned Highly Specialised Services in muscle channelopathies.
Dr Jayaseelan completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge and qualified in medicine with distinction from University College London. She undertook specialist neurology training at leading London teaching hospitals and was awarded an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship, completing a PhD in neuromuscular disease at the UCL Institute of Neurology.
Alongside her clinical work, she is an Honorary Lecturer at UCL and is actively involved in research and clinical trials in neuromuscular diseases. She has published widely and contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education as a lecturer, examiner and supervisor.
