Dr Duncan Dymond is a highly esteemed Consultant Cardiologist based at The Wellington Hospital and serves as Emeritus Consultant Cardiologist at St Bart’s Hospital. With a career spanning several decades, Dr Dymond has developed a profound expertise in adult cardiology, coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology, and cardiac imaging, particularly CT and nuclear cardiology.
Dr Dymond's medical journey began at St Bart’s Hospital Medical School, where he was awarded the Weizman Memorial Prize and was runner-up in the Brackenbury Medicine Prize. He qualified in 1972 and obtained his MRCP in 1974. Following this, he pursued specialist training in cardiology, focusing on both invasive and non-invasive techniques and the use of radioisotopes in diagnosing coronary artery disease. In 1980, he was awarded an MD from the University of London for his thesis in cardiology. He further honed his skills with a two-year stint at Mount Sinai Hospital in the USA before returning to St Bart’s.
Dr Dymond began his role as a Consultant Cardiologist at St Bart’s Hospital in 1987. He has also served as a council member of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society and as Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiac Society. His clinical practice encompasses all aspects of adult cardiology, including managing patients with chest pain, dizziness, and palpitations. He is particularly skilled in performing percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), which involve the use of stents to expand and unblock arteries.
