About Dr Dwaipayan Sen
Dr Dwaipayan Sen is a consultant in stroke medicine and geriatric medicine with 24 years of experience, practising at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neuroscience and serving as clinical director of the Greater Manchester Comprehensive Stroke Centre at Salford Royal Hospital. He provides evidence-based, patient-centred care across the full spectrum of stroke medicine, including transient ischaemic attacks, cerebral small vessel disease, anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation, cryptogenic strokes, and strokes of uncertain origin. He also provides high-quality geriatric care for falls, dementia, Parkinsonism, cardiovascular syncope, postural hypotension, and vascular dementia.
He earned his medical degree in 2002, completed his MRCP in 2006, followed by an MRCP in Geriatric Medicine in 2009, and achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training in general internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and stroke medicine in 2014. Since 2014, he has held a consultant role in stroke medicine and ageing & complex medicine at the comprehensive stroke centre in Manchester. Between 2016 and 2017, he gained international experience by serving as consultant stroke physician and geriatrician, and as director of stroke services in Kolkata. He also holds an honorary senior lecturer position at Manchester University, contributing actively to academic research and medical education.
His subspecialties include neurogeriatrics and stroke medicine. He offers comprehensive geriatric assessments, surgical liaison, and video consultations.
