Dr Efe Ejenavi is a consultant gastroenterologist specialising in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary medicine. He currently practises at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, working across Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Heartlands Hospital.

His areas of expertise include interventional endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease and hepatobiliary disorders. He manages a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions such as dyspepsia, dysphagia, gastrointestinal cancers, gastrointestinal bleeding and functional gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr Ejenavi is highly skilled in advanced endoscopic procedures, including diagnostic oesophago gastro duodenoscopy (OGD), colonoscopy and polypectomy. He also performs ERCP and interventional treatments for gastrointestinal strictures.

He holds roles in clinical governance and education. He was formerly Endoscopy Training Lead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and currently serves as Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Clinical Governance Lead at Heartlands Hospital. He actively trains registrars and endoscopy fellows.

He is involved in research and regularly contributes to publications and presentations at national and international conferences. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians UK, British Society of Gastroenterology and a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Outside his clinical work, Dr Ejenavi is committed to delivering patient centred care, focusing on listening to patients’ concerns and tailoring individualised treatment plans using the latest medical advances.
