    Mr Ewen?Griffiths is a consultant general and upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgeon based in Birmingham, practising privately at The Harborne Hospital (HCA Healthcare UK) and within the NHS at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

    His clinical roles include consultant surgeon since September 2012, with specialist training in the North West of England and a year as senior upper GI fellow at Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, where he honed his skills in advanced laparoscopic surgery, anti?reflux and hiatus hernia repair, upper GI cancer and bariatric surgery. He leads research initiatives such as the CholeS study on cholecystectomy outcomes and the Oesophagogastric Anastomosis Audit, and holds an honorary professorship at the University of Birmingham awarded in 2023 .

    His areas of expertise include upper GI endoscopy (both diagnostic and therapeutic), gallstone disease and cholecystectomy, acid reflux and fundoplication, hiatus hernia surgery, achalasia treatments, oesophageal and gastric cancer management, Barrett’s oesophagus, and hernia surgery .
