Dr Gary Davies is a Consultant Respiratory Physician based in London and serves as the Consultant Advisor in Medicine for the Royal Air Force. He has a keen interest in aviation medicine, pleural disease, and pneumothorax.
Dr Davies completed his medical training in London and furthered his expertise with a Senior Fellowship in Respiratory and Intensive Care at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He also holds an MD, having conducted research on the pressure breathing system of the Typhoon (Eurofighter) at the National Heart and Lung Institute and RAF Centre of Aviation Medicine.
In 2010, Dr Davies was appointed as a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He currently holds the position of Clinical Director for Acute Services at the Trust. He played a pivotal role in establishing the surgical Acute Assessment Unit, which has received national recognition for its safety and innovation. Additionally, he is in the process of developing a pleural service at the hospital.
Dr Davies runs a specialist aviation medicine respiratory service and a general respiratory clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He also oversees a Specialist General Medical Aircrew Clinic at RAF Henlow.
His areas of expertise include fitness to fly assessments, lung function testing, aviation medicine, lung cancer, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, and sleep disorders.
