Dr Giovanni Sanna is a leading consultant rheumatologist with HCA Healthcare at London Bridge Hospital. He also holds an NHS post at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital in South London, where he runs a multidisciplinary clinic with neurologists and renal physicians for patients suffering from neuropsychiatric lupus, lupus nephritis, and myositis. His special clinical interest is in connective tissue diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome.

Dr Sanna was awarded his medical degree at the University of Rome in 1991 and completed his specialist training in rheumatology at the University of Cagliari, Italy. He completed his PhD in 2000 and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2006. He is heavily involved in medical education, teaching medical students, supervising trainees in rheumatology, and contributing to educational programmes and lectures in the UK and abroad.

During his career, Dr Sanna has published over 50 research papers and numerous textbook chapters. He is also a reviewer for several international journals. He is a member of the British Society for Rheumatology, the American College of Rheumatology, and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
