Dr Girija Sadalage is an experienced Consultant Neurologist at Circle Rehabilitation in Birmingham and Harborne Hospital Birmingham, with over six years of experience. She specialises in managing both chronic and acute neurological conditions, including myasthenia gravis, autoimmune encephalitis, neuromyelitis optica, stiff person syndrome, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease. Dr Sadalage also serves as a Consultant Neurologist at The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
Dr Sadalage's medical journey began at the University of Mysore, India, where she completed her medical training in 2000. She moved to the UK in 2003 to pursue neurology training in the West Midlands. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2009 and received her Membership in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians in 2014. In 2021, she earned a PhD in Clinical Neurology from the University of Nottingham and became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2023.
Her subspecialist focus is in neuroimmunology, and she manages specialised clinics dedicated to neuroimmunology and neuromuscular disorders. Dr Sadalage has conducted three years of research on myasthenia gravis, resulting in numerous published papers. She currently oversees myasthenia trials at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
