About Mr Hadi Zambarakji
Mr. Zambarakji was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Barts Health, Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust in 2005. He was a fellow in Vitreoretinal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, and in Medical Retina at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston. He has a strong interest in education and training, having been College Tutor and Regional advisor for the Royal College, before taking on the role of Governance Lead where his focus was on patient safety.
His clinical interests include vitreoretinal surgery, small incision phaco cataract surgery, as well as medical retina. This includes retinal detachment surgery, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular disease and macular degeneration. He is an extensive user of premium lens implants including toric lens implants to correct astigmatism, multifocal and enhanced monofocal lens implants.
His research interests include imaging in retinal disorders, vitreomacular diseases, high myopia, macular retinoschisis and macular hole/retinal detachment, investigational treatments for diabetic retinopathy and submacular haemorrhage in macular degeneration as well as cost economics in vitreoretinal surgery.
